Press Release: High Performance Features Simplified with easy Mode and Premium Auto
Las Vegas, NV, January 9, 2012 – Casio America, Inc. and its parent company, Casio Computer Co., Ltd., today announced the release of four new models to the EXILIM® family of digital cameras: the EX-ZS150, EX-ZS20, EX-ZS12, and EX-ZS6. These compact cameras feature a powerful zoom lens and 16.1 effective megapixels and provide high-performance features that are typically not available in entry level digital cameras.
The four new models have dedicated buttons for the basic digital camera operations of capturing, reviewing, and deleting images. They also feature the “easy Mode” interface, which clearly displays frequently used functions with large lettering and icons. By following instructions from the on-screen guide, users can take photos with the optimal photographic settings. Also, by merely pointing the camera at a subject, the new models automatically focus on the face of the subject or on the landscape. Once the focus frame turns green, the user just presses the shutter button, and a sharply focused image is captured. The new EXILIM cameras are designed to be easy for everyone to operate, even novices.
The EX-ZS150 is equipped with a 24mm wide-angle lens and a 12.5x optical zoom ready to capture any kind of scene, while the EX-ZS20 is equipped with a 26mm wide-angle lens and a 6x optical zoom in a slim, stainless-steel body. Both models come with Premium Auto mode, which automatically analyzes the shooting scene to choose the best settings and performs image processing. When set to Premium Auto mode, the cameras will automatically analyze the scene being photographed and simultaneously optimize settings for exposure, ISO, sensitivity, focus location, photo blur correction, tonal range, color balance, and level of noise reduction. Premium Auto mode will automatically distinguish night scenes, back lighting, a blue sky, green trees or a sunset and can sense whether there is a person’s face in the frame, the movement and position of the subject, and whether a tripod is being used. All images are analyzed pixel by pixel to apply different corrections depending on the subject. For example, if Premium Auto mode recognizes that the subject of the image is a person, it will automatically apply Makeup Mode, and will automatically apply Landscape Mode if it detects that the subject of the image is a landscape. For those who value simplicity and want to capture beautiful images with each press of the shutter, Casio’s Premium Auto is the mode to use.
Meanwhile, the EX-ZS12 and EX-ZS6 are equipped with a 26mm wide-angle lens and a 5x optical zoom. The EX-ZS12 features a slim, stainless-steel body for a high-quality look.

All four models come in a wide variety of colors and offer BEST SHOT Mode, which optimizes photo settings when the user selects the type of scene about to be photographed. Every BEST SHOT Mode was designed to help users capture the best images possible of a wide range of subjects in just about any environment. Users will also benefit from helpful images and descriptions which accompany each mode and give a detailed explanation of when to use them and what each will provide in regard to results. The new EXILIM models also offer a self-portrait function that automatically takes a beautiful shot when the camera detects the user’s face and focuses on it. What’s more is that each camera is also capable of HD movie recording (1280 x 720) for stunning clips.

With 3x optical zoom and 6 or 8.1 megapixel (MP) resolution respectively, keen photographers can enlarge any unique shots up to poster size, without damaging image quality.
Despite measuring just 23mm and 26mm thin respectively, the HP Photosmart R727 and R927 digital cameras feature large full colour LCD screens of 6.4 cm and 7.6 cm with a 170 degree viewing angle, making it even easier to capture, view and make edits to images using the on-board menu options.
Photographers of all levels can take advantage of a full suite of HP’s most advanced Real Life technologies, which have been designed to allow users to take impressive photographs every time.
One such technology is HP’s unique Instant Image Advice system, which indicates problems within an image that need correction, such as a shot being over exposed. After automatically scanning an image the program takes users to an advice screen that provides instruction on how to make the adjustments needed to get the perfect shot. Further HP’s Real Life technologies include In-camera Panorama Stitching, an ideal tool for those photographers taking panoramic shots and wide angle images, which stitches up to 5 single shots together to create one image.
HP’s Automatic In-Camera Red-Eye Removal and HP Video Prints means users can select a single scene from video footage on the camera and save this as an image for sharing or printing. HP’s newly developed Design Gallery which includes a portfolio of tricks such as 10 different border effects, 12 different filters and four colour effects to help personalise images is included. All of HP’s Real Life technologies and the Design Gallery can be used without having to connect to a PC or download any additional software. Sharing and printing photos with these cameras is easy. Photos can be printed directly from the camera without having to connect to a PC using Pictbridge Technology or card slots. Sharing photos is just as simple when using HP’s included Photosmart Premier software.
This software provides a range of printing options and allows users to upload images to a secure site which friends or family can access in order to view images. For photographers looking for a completely wire free experience, both of these cameras can be connected to the optional HP Photosmart 6222 Wireless Dock. With this dock users can use the accompanying remote control to wirelessly manage their snapshots and navigate through a TV interface.

Press Release: The new Samsung ST76 and ST66 deliver flawless images from a stylish body
Las Vegas – Jan 9, 2012 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, announced today the launch of its latest ST range compact cameras: the 16.1 Megapixel ST76 and ST66. Beautifully-styled yet powerful, the range boasts sleek, modern designs that deliver flawless images, while a host of fun features help inject maximum creativity into everyday shots.
The elegant new brushed-metal designs of the ST76 and ST66 give the range a classic, premium look that conveys a refined sense of style. All ST devices are compact enough to fit into any pocket and be taken anywhere to capture spontaneous moments, whether at the club, the beach or just spending time with friends. Each model is available in a range of vibrant and trendy colors to suit every personality with five different color versions of the ST76 and ST66.
Aided by the optical image stabilization available on the ST76, clear and steady images can now be achieved by any photographer, regardless of experience. Even when the light begins to dim, there is no reason to slow down. The F/2.5, 25mm wide angle bright lens available on both models is ideal for low-light shooting, thanks to its superior ability to capture light and therefore clear shots in the dark. The 5x optical zoom on each model helps ensure that detail isn’t lost when zooming in for a close-up. All captured on a 16 Megapixel CCD sensor, the ST range means that brilliantly clear images can be taken anywhere and in style.
Both the ST76 and ST66 include 720p HD Movie Recording at 30fps, so users can capture a priceless scene in quality that they will be proud to share later with friends and family.
“The ST range has always focused on bringing consumers the best in photography, encapsulated in a camera that’s not only easy to carry everywhere, but is stylish enough for you to be proud of, reflecting your own personal style,” commented Mr. Myoung Sup Han, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics. “With our new metallic designs and colors, we have continued in this commitment to combine superior imaging quality, cutting-edge aesthetics and features such as optical image stabilization and Live Panoramas to produce those outstanding results.” Live Panorama, featured on each of the new ST models, allows users the ability to capture even more of the action, facilitating wide panoramic shots, from scenic mountain peaks to large groups of friends. The Live Panorama feature allows the easy capture of large scenes by simply holding down the shutter button and sweeping the camera across the scene. Users can even preview the whole scene they’ve just captured via the LCD screen. Smart Auto 2.0, available on all the new models in the ST series, identifies and automatically selects the most appropriate of its scene modes to provide users with the best possible result every time. From a fireworks display to a dimly-lit party, Smart Auto 2.0,’s scene detection technology identifies the shooting conditions and automatically tailors the settings to help achieve standout results. Want to turn a portrait into an old film still, or put a friend’s face on a billboard? With the Magic Frame feature, it’s easy to create clever, poster-like images by selecting one of the built-in background templates, such as Wall Art, Full Moon, Magazine or Holiday. Point the camera at your subject, align it within the on-screen template and capture the fun.
For when one picture just isn’t enough, the Picture-in-Picture feature lets users insert one image into another — take one background shot, select the area to erase and then frame up your second shot in the space left behind. This can be anything from a friend’s face appearing in the middle of a plate to inserting a profile picture onto Mount Rushmore!
Finally, users can also bend, stretch, and warp pictures of their friends and family for big laughs — with the Funny Face feature users can simply press the 5-direction key to enlarge heads or noses, or create hilarious distortions. And when the camera is moved, Face Tracking preserves the funny looks.
Visit Samsung’s booth to experience this future technology firsthand. Samsung’s product line will be displayed January 10-13 at booth #12004 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Casio Europe has released the Exilim EX-ZS15, a touch-screen compact with a 5x wide-angle zoom. The 14MP CCD-based camera features a 26-130mm equivalent lens and 3″ touch-sensitive display. The touch-screen display not only includes a touch-shutter mode but also replaces virtually all the camera’s buttons, leaving just a shutter, video record, Best Shot Selector and power buttons. Beyond this the camera can shoot 720p30 video.
Pre-CES 2011: Casio has announced the Exilim EX-ZS10 and EX-ZS5 entry level compacts. Both share 14.1Mp sensors, 5x optical zoom lenses starting at 26mm equiv. and 2.7 inch LCDs. The ZS10 comes at a higher price tag with its 720p HD video recording capability compared to the ZS5′s VGA recording. They will be available in black, silver, red, pink and blue from March 2011 at retail prices of $119.99 and $99.99 respectively.

Pre-Photokina 2010: Casio has introduced the Exilim EX-Z2300. Similar to the Z2000 introduced in January this year, it is built around a 14Mp sensor, 26-130mm optical zoom lens and 3.0″ LCD, and records 720p HD videos. It features the company’s latest Single Frame SR Zoom feature that extends the camera’s zoom range while claiming to maintain high resolution image quality. Its ‘Dynamic Photo’ option enables users to add preset graphics to images, including a monkey doing a handstand and a dog riding a bicycle (yes really).

Pre-Photokina 2010: Casio has introduced the Exilim EX-Z16 budget compact camera. Sporting an image-stabilized 12.1 Mp sensor, 2.7 inch LCD and 3x optical zoom (35.5 to 106.5mm equiv), it includes an Easy Mode, widescreen video recording and a YouTube capture mode. The Z16 will be available from the end of this month at retail price of $99.99

Casio has released the Exilim EX-S200 and EX-Z800 digital compacts. The 14MP image-stabilized cameras feature the company’s latest Exilim Engine 5.0 processor with ‘super-resolution’ context-sensitive image processing technology. Both offer 4x zoom lenses starting a 27mm equivalent focal length and use the super resolution technology to improve the effect of the 1.5x digital zoom. They also share 2.7″ LCDs and can record standard 720p HD videos. The identical specced cameras differ physically with the EX-S200 maintaining the S series’ slim body while the EX-Z800 features a slightly larger Zoom series design.

PMA 2010: Casio has announced the Exilim EX-S7 and EX-Z35 digital compacts. Both offer 12MP sensors, 3x (35-106mm equiv.) zoom lenses and feature direct web upload options. The EX-S7 comes with 720p HD video recording and has a slightly larger LCD size of 2.7” compared to the EX-Z35’s 2.5″. They also feature a Dynamic Photo option that enables users to add graphics and create e-greetings in camera.

Casio has unveiled the world’s slimmest ‘rugged’ compact in the shape of Exliim EX-G1 – its thinnest side measures just 20mm (0.78″). The first in the company’s new ‘Exilim G’ series of weatherproof cameras, named in reference to the company’s well-known G-Shock series of watches. The G1 is designed to be dustproof, waterproof up to 3 meters for an hour, coldproof down to -10°C (14°F) and shock-resistant for drops of up to 2.13 meters. It incorporates a 38-114mm equivalent lens, 2.5″ LCD, 12.1MP sensor and includes features such as Intelligent AF, Best Shot shooting mode and Interval shooting. Priced at US $299 and £279 GBP, the camera will start shipping from December 2009.
